Longanisaa festival
Apo San Pablo, Agyaman kami kadagiti bendisyon ken parabor a dimteng iti biag mi. ikararag mi iti naragsak a panang celebrar mi iti Fiesta ni Apo San Pablo.”
This touching phrase, spoken by a child prior to the evening event of the Fiesta of the Conversion of St. Paul, established the mood for the festivities. Listening to it sent chills down my spine and gave me goosebumps, as if I were journeying through Vigan’s vibrant and rich cultural heritage. At that instant, I sensed a profound bond with the beliefs, customs, and lively essence that render the Heritage City of Vigan exceptionally unique.
The Heritage City of Vigan is renowned for its abundant culture, Spanish colonial buildings, and lively customs. Each January, Bigueños celebrate the Fiesta of the Conversion of St. Paul, a magnificent occasion featuring parades, contests, dances, and culinary festivals. This year, I got to experience the celebration, and it was genuinely memorable.
The streets were filled with residents and tourists savoring parades, street acts, and the renowned Longganisa Festival. Families and communities came together, bringing vibrancy and happiness to the city while highlighting Vigan's solidarity and cultural heritage.
On January 22, 2026, I gathered with my nearest friends—individuals I genuinely appreciate. We united in support of performers from various schools and organizations, including our own Ilocos Sur National High School (ISNHS). Helping our classmates enhanced the event's significance, particularly when our school triumphed in one of the competitions.
A key moment was seeing our classmate Diana Rose take part in the Longganisa Festival Dance. The performers donned colorful outfits and executed energetic dance routines that honored Vigan’s renowned delicacy. Their vitality encompassed the spirit of Vigan’s heritage and gastronomy, leaving the spectators amazed.
The young artists left us in awe with their vibrant performances and flawless timing. Broad, exaggerated strides and energetic arrangements captured everyone’s focus. By combining classic techniques with contemporary styles, they produced performances that were both thrilling and visually captivating
